Nintendo gave an update to Metroid Prime 4 detailing what the situation is with the development. The game is being delayed due to development hardships and developer change.
The company felt the project wasn't living up to the series expectations, so because of this they scrapped the whole project and plan for the series creators Retro Studio to take charge of the project.
For many, this might be disappointing news but with the announcement of Retro studios taking charge, this might be for the best.
Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch people were curious about what Retro Studios had in store. rumors of them making a brand new IP to them making a new Star Fox title. We still don't know what they have been up to so its possible these projects could still be in store despite the Metroid project they just picked up. Despite all of this we can rest soundly knowing Metroid Prime 4 is in good hands and passion will lead the game forward.
